Blackpaw (Adrian "Blackpaw" Rodriguez) is a Mexican American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and DJ born and raised in Los Angeles. Blurring the lines between house, techno, disco, and dance-pop, he brings a gritty approach to dance-floor energy.
He began his career in the indie alternative music scene, playing bass with artists including Hanni El Khatib, The Airborne Toxic Event, and Twin Shadow, performing at major venues and festivals around the world. Today, he translates the live experience into a hybrid performance, blending DJing with live hardware instruments and performance gear to create evolving sets that connect live music with club culture. His performances have taken him from marathon 6+ hour vinyl sets in Lisbon to club appearances in Stockholm, Mexico City, and New York, where he is equally comfortable behind a pair of turntables, CDJs, or sequenced hardware.
In 2025, Blackpaw pushed a new sound with IT DOES, a cheeky techno-rap collaboration with Liverpool duo Big Sis. Beyond his own releases, he has built a reputation for cultivating community through Paradise Vice, the Los Angeles dance party he founded, which has hosted secret guest DJs from around the world since 2017.
He opened 2026 with the indie-dance single "I Like It" on Mi Domina Records, with a few follow-up releases in summer 2026 leading into his debut techno/electro EP in fall 2026.
